It is organized by the Environment Avenue of RID 3131 at Harshal
Hall, Karve Road, Pune on 6th June 2026. Dr. Medha Kulkarni (MP)
inaugurated the conference. RID 3131 District Governor Rtn Santosh Marathe, District
Director Environment Rajendrakumar Saraf, Dr. Ramchandra Bhardwaj, Additional
Director General of Police Dr. Suhas Warke IPS, DGN Rtn Charuchandra Shrotri,
First Lady Rtm Dr. Tanuuja Marathe and a large number of Rotary members &
professionals were present on this occasion.
The
keynote speaker, former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, highlighted that global
warming and climate change are the biggest challenges facing humanity. Rising
temperatures are having a serious impact on agriculture, industry and human
life and natural disasters like floods and droughts are increasing. He
expressed regret that climate change is a global alarm bell and many countries
are ignoring this problem. He said that strict and effective implementation of
the agreements signed by countries around the world is necessary to prevent
climate change.
In
her presidential address, Dr. Medha Kulkarni said that India has resolved to
achieve the goal of Net Zero by 2070 through the goals set by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi to increase the use of non-conventional energy, reduce carbon
emissions and promote environmentally friendly development. She emphasized on
various measures taken by the government to achieve the Net Zero goal. Planting
and preserving trees is the easiest and most effective way to reduce carbon
emissions. For Net Zero, she appealed to everyone to take responsibility for
environmental conservation and contribute to a green and sustainable future.
Saying
that this conference was organized to promote the global campaign of Net Zero,
Rajendra Saraf gave information about the work being done by Rotary to achieve
Zero Net. On this occasion, Shri Anand Chordia Director Suhana Masala was given
the Servce above Self award.
Mr.
Anand Chordia, Capt. Hugo Hinrichsen, Ms. Shreyasi Ansingkar, Dr. Jayant
Keskar, Mr. Pradeep Motwani, Rtn Erum Khan, Dr. Ratnadeep Joshi expressed their
thoughts on various aspects of Net Zero. Dr. Purva Keskar, Dr. Priyadarshini
Karve, Er. Sandip Sonigra, Ar. Namrata Dhamankar, Smt Shyamala Desai participated
in the discussion on Net Zero Application. Rtn Rajendrakumar Saraf moderated
the session.

Dr. Gauri Joshi, Rtn Dr Vrushali Khiry, Rtn Dvadatta Hambardikar, Rtn
Snil Kasodekra, Rtn Irrfan, Rtn Swaiti Yadav, Rtn Sunita Shirguppi Rtn
Arvind Mithsagar and Rtn Nilesh Dhopade did the session Management.
The
conference focused on reducing the carbon, water and waste footprint by doing
one action every week under Rotary's "Green Week Mission". The
message of environmental conservation was given starting from oneself and
extending to family and society. This conference played an important role in
creating awareness among citizens about Net Zero
